Freewrite #16 - Hatred

And there he was .... weighing his options and mentally making a list of "the impossible things that would never happen" . The one that topped the list was getting to like her. It just wouldn't happen .. Nature abhors happiness, much like a baby with a full stomach abhors every spoon of pudding forced into it little tummy.

No matter how much he drank .. the outcome could not be altered . No matter how much he thought about it, It just wouldn't change. Philosophy restricted Kinematics. Destiny had already scripted his fate .

Justifying all the wrong that he did and finding a reason to hate her was much easier now.. And it seemed to be the only way out. Blending into the mass of foot soldiers who find reasons not to fight the fight, not because it was not worth it, but because the battle was already lost. He was just another soldier of fortune , unarmed and unaware. The battle certainly was over.

The silent devotion turned into vengeance, beauty into a disfigured demon and etiquette into arrogance. Turning back those dusty tomes of life, somewhere he found these lines ..
"Life is much easier when you let go things you cannot possess."
True. Very True.

Its a way to convince yourself the unconvincing.

"Florentino is so in love with Fermina that he eats gardenias and drinks cologne so that he can know her taste. He becomes drunk on the cologne, and his mother finds him the next morning, in a puddle of his vomit, in a cove of the bay where drowning victims are known to wash ashore" - Love in the time of Cholera
